Canine Birthday Cake

Kids will love helping to decorate a birthday cake for the family dog, and your dog will love eating it!

 

Ingredients

500g (1lb) minced beef (lean)

80g (1 cup) oat meal

8 eggs

30 g (1/2 cup) cracker crumbs

3 large white potatoes

Splash of milk, knob of butter

Optional…

Frozen Peas

Sliced Ham

Preparation and Cooking

Put the minced beef, oat meal, eggs and cracker crumbs into a blender and whizz until completely mixed. Pour the mixture into a well greased cake tin and bake in a pre-heated oven for 25 to 35 minutes. Take the tin out and carefully turn the cake out onto a plate. While the cake is cooling boil the potatoes, when cooked drain and mash, add in a knob of butter and a splash of milk and whisk until smooth and creamy. Use the mashed potato to ‘ice’ the cake (you can even put it in an icing bag if you have one). You can use cookie cutters to cut fun shapes into slices of ham, and use the ham and peas to decorate the cake.
